Before   After

A free form gunite pool surrounded by concrete pavers, arbor and garden area.

A natural stone wall sets off the yard, adding depth and texture.

This socially active family wanted a backyard design that focused on poolside entertainment.  The design included a large, curvilinear pool and elevated, cascading spa surrounded by a formal patio and terrace that created multiple seating areas.  The pool house creates both a charming feature and functional use for entertaining.  An elegant pergola was designed to create a formal seating experience overlooking both poolside and backyard landscape.

The main challenge was to design a formal patio and planting around an informal, freeform pool offset to the rear of the property.  The clients have a sloping grade change behind the pool which transitioned into a dramatic terraced patio and pergola.  Pathways and steps were created, connecting entrance areas and deck which lead through various grade changes which required numerous retaining walls as well.  Architectural details required the repeated use of cut archs taken from arbors to repeat in the construction of the poolside pergola.
