Ridgewood, NJ – May, 7 2013 - As part of its ongoing commitment to community service, volunteers from Jacobsen Landscape Design & Construction recently completed a project for the Conservancy for Public Lands in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Members of the award-winning landscape design firm worked together with employees from the Ridgewood Tree Corporation to restore and beautify the park area around the Ridgewood train station. The group spent the day performing a variety of landscape services for the Conservancy, which included mulching, pruning and trimming, and tree work.
The effort was part of the Professional Landcare Network’s (PLANET) national Day of Service, a nationwide program that unites the green industry for a day to help improve the country’s green spaces and show dedication to environmental stewardship.
“We’re delighted to join others in the green industry in giving back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Glenn Jacobsen, president and founder of Jacobsen Landscape. “PLANET’s Day of Service is a great platform for us to support projects that make green spaces more beautiful and useable for community members.”
During last year’s Day of Service, PLANET members completed approximately 150 projects in 36 states and from Canada and Puerto Rico, with more than 2,600 volunteers donating more than $675,000 in time and services. This is the fifth consecutive year Jacobsen Landscape has participated in the initiative, with previous volunteer projects including Children’s Aid and Family Services in Ridgewood, the John Fell House in Allendale, and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Paterson.
